Beginning with the setup

Before you begin configuring your TP-Link repeater, you will need to determine the best location to install the device. The LEDs on the front panel will assist you with determining the same.

Now, once you have finalized the location, the next step is to proceed with the tp-link extender configuration. Follow the steps:

  • Plug in your range extender to a power outlet near the main router. Turn on the extender and allow the LEDs on the front panel to light up.
  • Now, using your smartphone or computer system, connect to the extender network. Open the wireless network settings and click on the SSID of the extender network to connect to it.
  • Once connected, open the web browser and type in the web address tplinkrepeater.net in the address bar. Press Enter.
  • If the web address doesn’t give you any results, you can use the IP address i.e. 192.168.0.1 and press the Enter key.
  • You will now be directed to the tp-link extender login page. Enter the username and the password like credentials and press login.

Configuring the settings

  • On the homepage of the web-based  setup wizard, click on the Wireless tab.
  • In the Wireless Settings tab, you’ll see the SSID and password like fields. Type a name which you would like your TP-Link extender network to have. Also specify a passphrase and select the encryption type as WPA2-PSK.
  • Click on the Next button and the tp-link extender configuration wizard will search for the available networks.
  • From the list of the available networks, select the one that belongs to your main router and enter the login credentials to connect to the same. Also, if you are using a dual-band network router, type in the credentials for the second network band as well.
  • Once you have entered the same, you can click on the Next button. The final screen will show you the summary of the network you have just configured. If you want, you can record the same for future reference.
